Maredudd ap Rhobert , lord of Cydewain

Died: 1244   

A minor Welsh lord, Maredudd ap Rhobert initially sided with King John against Llywelyn ab Iorwerth (1211) but in 1215 submitted to the Welsh ruler.

Maredudd founded Llanllugan Abbey which was the only house for women in North Wales. He died at Strata Florida where he took the Cistercian habit shortly before his death.
