1404: Papal indulgences

Adam of Usk requested the pope that indulgences be granted to attract alms to St Radegund’s chapel at Usk Priory which had been devatsated by warfare.

Adam claimed that otherwise the nuns would be forced to beg and wander throughout the country seeking help.
Mein ( St. Mary's priory church, Usk : some recent work and some new theories) has recently suggested that this plea may have been on account of the nuns' poor living conditions rather than their impoverishment.
