Abbot of Whitland. bishop of Bangor, and monk of Dore, Cadwgan claimed kinship to Llywelyn ab Iorwerth.

Cadwgan was elevated to the abbacy at Whitland after December 1202 and presided there until he was made bishop of Bangor in 1215. He retired from the See some twenty years later and spent the last five years of his life as a monk of Dore, Herefordshire.
